AYANNA MILLS-GALLOW: I was trying to motivate and encourage a friend who was experiencing a rough patch I’m life. He said he wished he could hear that kind of encouragement every day. Therefore, I said oh I will write you a devotional. Then my journey began.

AYANNA: My favorite authors are no longer here. I love Dr. Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison.
BLAQVERSITY: Since becoming a published author, what challenges have you faced if any?
AYANNA: The challenges of becoming a published author is that you have to balance marketing with writing. I love writing in my free time, but I don’t get to do it as much based on the other things associated with being an author.
BLAQVERSITY: How many books have you written?
AYANNA: I have written 5 books and at least 5 journals.

BLAQVERSITY: What is your genre?
AYANNA: My genre is non fiction, personal development, and Contemporary Christianity.
BLAQVERSITY: What message do you want your readers to take away when reading your books?
AYANNA: The main message I want them to get is that no matter what happens or have happened, God can fix anything so never give up. Keep going, don’t look back and keep pushing.
BLAQVERSITY: Do you have any writing tips/suggestions for any new author who wants to write their book but doesn’t know where to start?
AYANNA: Yes, on March 21, 2020 my latest book called ”Write Pray & Release”. That book teaches the writing methodology and how to market a book.
BLAQVERSITY: Are you currently working on any new book projects? If so, when can we expect them to be released?
AYANNA: Yes, my 2nd anthology with me as the visionary author will be out on July 1, 2020. My first anthology book was just released on March 15, 2020 called ”From Glass to Stone”. It quickly became a #1 bestseller on amazon.

AYANNA: I thought about being a writer full time because I enjoy that part the most.
BLAQVERSITY: If you could co-author with any author in the world, who would it be and why?
AYANNA: It would be Nona Jones! She’s had a rough upbringing like myself. However, her book still empowers others. That is a selfless thing because she could write about so many other things.
BLAQVERSITY: Tell us about your marketing strategies as an author? Do you find it to be challenging at times when promoting your books?
AYANNA: I outline it in my write pray release book, but it takes consistently showing up and representing your brand.
