“I absolutely believe in authors supporting authors. My whole perception of that is that God is love, sharing is caring we mirror our father’s action and this is one way to do so by supporting other authors or anyone in general as long as their intentions are pure.”

VERSAFI MAGAZINE: Are you planning to write more books in the near future?

DERRY COX: Yes definitely.

VERSAFI: If so, what will they be about?

DERRY: This time it would be fiction or whatever God pours into me to share with others.

VERSAFI: Besides being an author, what else do you do?

DERRY: Besides being an author I am currently working at a hospital here in New York in finance.  I am also a host of my own podcast “Scars to your beautiful purpose” it is kind of a bible study to me,  I research and share, whatever God puts on my heart to speak on that’s what my topics are about.

VERSAFI: Have you thought about taking your book and turning it into a business?

DERRY: My book was written as a testimony of God in my life, so I have never thought about it as business but just to give honor to God and to share my story with the hope to inspire others to find themselves, to walk in their true purpose as God intended them to. I know over the years many have come along with the same saying “find purpose, etc.” and so I am here as a reminder to others that If I can do it, so can they.

VERSAFI: A lot of authors have a hard time supporting one another. What are your thoughts on authors supporting other authors?

DERRY: I absolutely believe in authors supporting authors. My whole perception of that is that God is love, sharing is caring we mirror our father’s action and this is one way to do so by supporting other authors or anyone in general as long as their intentions are pure.

VERSAFI: How do you handle marketing challenges when it comes to your book?

DERRY: Because of this pandemic that we are all facing it has been a little difficult but the way I look at it is that whomever hands this book was intended to reach will eventually reach them. Like everything else in life we will face some challenges, but with patience we will see it through and it will be well.

VERSAFI: What do you do to gain more readers and to get your name out there?

DERRY: I have a few friends who have a wide base of followers who have reached out to me asking about my book and straight out said they will share with their followers and also I myself invested in a book trailer and they are some ways that are set up on face-book and Instagram that would allow you to reach potential readers that I have taken advantage of, the results have been impressive during this time.

VERSAFI: Do you find yourself facing challenges in the world of literacy?

DERRY: I have not have any challenges in the world of literacy. They are many resources available and expertise that are there to support if the need arises.

VERSAFI: How do you handle your challenges?

DERRY: As a child of God, I take it to God in prayer. Before I was someone who would try to deal with challenges on my own but the more I build my relationship with God is the more I am able to understand the path he has set for me. Of course he give us free will, but that personal relationship with him allows the direction to be clearer.

VERSAFI: Where do you see yourself in the next two years?

DERRY: Wherever God leads I will follow. They are always signs. But to answer your question, I see myself as a successful business owner, they are a few things I am working on in the back end which I will share when the time is right. Also, I would have also written my second book. And hopefully traveling speaking to people on a number of topics.

VERSAFI: Have you thought about attending speaking events to talk about your book?

DERRY: I definitely thought about that. I have a note on my website http://.iamderryc.wixsite.com that says. I will come to your church, prison. Shelter, or wherever you may be. I discuss author journey and other topics of inspiration.

VERSAFI: How can readers connect with you?
