The embodiment of “Survivor”, Tanisha Mackin is a woman tried by the fire and came out refined. Author Tanisha D. Mackin is an award-winning and 7x Bestselling author and an award-winning publisher. She has published six books of her own and has published over 40 books under the Tanisha Mackin Publishing, LLC imprint including working with 4x Grammy Award Winning and Reality Star Stevie J (LHHATL), Genise Shelton (Married to Medicine), super producer Shawty Fresh and she co-authored in a book with actress/comedienne Kim Coles. Tanisha became widowed at the tender age of 31 when her husband, Danyell Mackin Sr, was tragically killed in a mass shooting outside the City Grill in Buffalo, NY on August 14, 2010. The first bump in the road came in March 2010, when she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Having to cope with a cancer diagnose, the tragic killing of her husband and the daunting task of putting the pieces of her young family back together again, she uses her story of “Still Standing” to inspire and motivate various audiences and assist her clients in turning their personal stories into powerful best-selling memoirs.
A recipient of the 2013 Utopian Euphoria Making A Difference, 2016 Metro Phenomenal Women, 2016 Black Women Are Award for survivorship, the 2016 IALA award for Memoir of the year for her book, My Testimony, I Don’t Look Like What I’ve Been Through, 2016 Rising Star Award, 2018 & 2019 Best of McDonough award for her publishing company, the 2019 ACHI Magazine Award for Author of the Year and the 2020 Business Hall Of Fame for the Best of McDonough for the third time. Her experiences led Tanisha to write several books, write for several magazines, and appearing on several radio and television shows. Tanisha has been in several magazines, including gracing the cover of Writers Life Magazine (2017), Glambitious Magazine (2019) and Versafi Magazine (2020). In April 2019, Tanisha released her 6th book, Living My Best Life On My Own Terms and in September 2019, Tanisha released an eBook called What’s Next, Sis? Which became Amazon’s #1 bestseller.
Currently, Tanisha has started a training class called Pain Into Profit writing workshop where she created the training manual to teach the fundamentals of writing and publishing a book, how to turn your pain into profit and how to be confident in your story.

Versafi: How did your journey as an author began?
Tanisha: My journey started after my husband was killed. I wrote my book as therapy and I kept going.
Versafi: Was becoming a writer something you always wanted to pursue?
Tanisha: I always loved writing but I did not think I would be a writer as a career.
Versafi: Who motivated you?
Tanisha: My late husband and children.
Versafi: What inspired you to write your first book?
Tanisha: I wanted to share my story with the world and inspire others.
Versafi: How does it feel to be a published author?
Tanisha: It feels great.

Versafi: What message do you want your readers to take away when reading your books?
Tanisha: I would love for readers to feel inspire and encouraged by my story. I feel like if I could get through it, others can as well.

Tanisha: It is an accomplishment and I love to encourage others.
