Versafi: How did your journey of music began?

Beverly: I started singing at the age of 5 at my home church, then piano lessons at the age of 8. Both middle school and high school, I played bass clarinet.

Versafi: I want to talk about your new single “We Give You Praise” and the official video which I enjoyed! For the video, how did you come up with the visuals?

Beverly: In the past most of my singing has been done inside church. I had a vision to take my gospel beyond the church walls so everyone could reach. Due to COVID-19, we have been somewhat restricted, so now we must be creative in spreading the gospel for all to see and hear.

Versafi: Are you gearing up for a new ep or album?

Beverly:  Yes, I’m constantly working on new music. My hope is to put out a new single around spring and later complete my Christmas EP this time next year.

Versafi: As a music artist, what do you find to be the most challenging thing?

Beverly: Taking the time to write more music, I have so many songs in my head. I’m getting better, by singing into my phone.

Versafi: Your music resume is quite impressive. What has been your favorite memories with opening for artists?

Beverly: I was the featured guest artist at a wonderful church in Chicago IL, by the name of Walking by Faith led by Pastor Renee Chandler. It was a full concert with the band and background vocalist. One of my unforgettable royal moments.

Versafi: As we get ready to close out the year, are you working on anything new?

Beverly: Yes, right after the holidays, I will start on new music for my upcoming 12th My Praise, My Worship Music & Arts Scholarship Concert.

Versafi: What are some of your favorite gospel artists?

Beverly: Kirk Franklin, Maranda Curtis, Koryn Hawthorne.

Versafi: How has your music been able to reach the people of God? What impact has it made?

Beverly: My message and music is strictly about honoring our Lord God and Savior, and for that reason believers are attracted to it. Some people won’t read the bible, but they will listen to music, the message is in the music.

Versafi: What is has been your biggest achievement since the start of your music career?

Beverly: Bev Johnson” My Praise, My Worship “ Music & Arts  Scholarship Fund
